Wenn es nach den Vor­stel­lun­gen der Block­chain-Com­mu­ni­ty geht, dann han­delt es sich bei der Block­chain-Tech­no­lo­gie um nichts weni­ger, als um das neue Inter­net. Wir befän­den uns qua­si im Jahr 1996, dem offi­zi­el­len Geburts­jahr des Internet.

Die Dis­kus­si­on um die Block­chain-Tech­no­lo­gie ist mitt­ler­wei­le von einer fast schon wei­he­vol­len Atmo­sphä­re umge­ben; da gießt  Jon Evans in Block­chains are the new Linux, not the new Inter­net reich­lich Was­ser in den Mess­wein. Statt der Par­al­le­len zum Inter­net erkennt Evans deut­li­che Gemein­sam­kei­ten der Block­chain mit Linux:

I pro­po­se a coun­ter-nar­ra­ti­ve. I put it to you that block­chains today aren’t like the Inter­net in 1996; they’re more like Linux in 1996. That is in no way a dig—but, if true, it’s some­thing of a death knell for tho­se who hope to pro­fit from main­stream usa­ge of block­chain apps and protocols.

Das ist nich unbe­dingt die Musik, die man in letz­ter Zeit zu hören gewohnt war. Eben­so wie Linux sei die Block­chain eine Tech­no­lo­gie im Hin­ter­grund. So wie Linux bis­lang im B2C – Geschäft kaum Fuss gefasst habe. Selbst Android ände­re an dem Befund kaum etwas:
